A Look Back at 2017

I want to take time to remember all that this past year has brought so I can begin to look forward to 2018.

I have achieved a lot of milestones this year. From kicking off my Nailandia spa journey to creating and organizing a Technical Writing community in Munich, 2017 brought me one adventure after another.

A Day in Montenegro

It was 8 in the morning in Dubrovnik. I quickly switched off my phone's alarm and started preparing for our day trip to Montenegro. I haven't had coffee yet, thus my energy level was still low. But I made sure I had some snacks, water, sunblock, and swimwear ready for the trip. I begged FL to get out of bed earlier than his phone's alarm. I must have been very good in negotiating, or he must probably be so annoyed at me, that he immediately jumped out of bed to prepare for the trip.

At exactly 9 in the morning, FL and I were quietly waiting for our drivers to arrive, with a cup of coffee in my hand. It wasn't the best coffee ever, but it was enough to keep me alert. FL was still a bit heartbroken about France losing the Euro Cup 2016. I could see the disappointment in his eyes. I, too, was disappointed, but the game was over and Portugal won. We both had to move on.

A white van parked in front of where we were standing, and a woman, in her 40s, came to greet us. I replied, "Dubro Jutro," as if I spoke her language very well. She smiled and led us to the van where other holidaymakers were waiting.

Fantastic Dubrovnik

I've always been fascinated with Croatia. I don't know about you, but just the name of the country itself sounds exotic and mysterious to me.

Croatia, for most travelers, isn't really a familiar name. If you tell them about Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, most of them wouldn't even know where it is. It's also possible that Croatia is not on their list of countries to visit. But it was on mine! Hehe! :-p

So, when I saw direct flights from Munich to Dubrovnik, I immediately booked tickets to explore this popular city in South Croatia. I, together with the FL, flew in June when summer had just started, and the days were longer, sunnier, and warmer.

Game of Thrones (GoT) fans know Dubrovnik for sure. The old town of Dubrovnik was the main location for the King's Landing of the award-winning TV series.

Traveling Cheap

Euros 20 for return airfare tickets to London! Can you believe that?

Yes, I spent Euros 20 for my plane tickets from Munich to London a month ago! And I definitely had so much fun.
